Presented-By SECURITY RESOURCES Training Academy’s Department of  Security Enforcement, our Basics-of-Pistol/Handgun Shooting course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience, novice, experienced, or somewhere-in-between.

This course takes place in a traditional classroom and range environment may be completed in a single day format or over several days with smaller blocks-of-instruction.

Course topics include, but not limited to the following: firearm safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and firearm-range safety.

Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with a Certified Instructor.

Topics to be addressed in this course include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Firearm Safety Rules
  • Proper Operations of Revolvers
  • Proper Operations of Semi-Automatics
  • Ammunition Knowledge and Selection
  • Pistol Selection and Storage
  • Shooting Fundamentals
  • Pistol Inspection and Maintenance
  • Marksmanship
  • Firearm-Range Safety

Upon course completion, students will receive Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol/Handgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive Basics-of-Pistol/Handgun Shooting course completion certificate

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SECURITY RESOURCES Training Academy’s Basic-of-Pistol/Handgun Shooting course, students who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Prerequisites:

  • Student must be 18-Years Old OR Older;
  • Non-Prohibited Person, Possession-of-Firearm;

Additional Student Requirements:

  • Students Personal Firearm;
  • Ammunition, Approximately 300-Rounds;
  • Two-Magazines for Semi-Automatic Firearms;
  • Two-Speed Loaders or Two-Speed Strips for Revolver Firearms.
